Q: Why should I hire New Leaders?

Not only will we get the job done—and done right—but it will also exceed your expectations, and cost less than hiring another company. We are well-balanced in the areas of marketing, design, and development. We are honest, ethical, friendly, and we always aim to please. We do not take on projects if we think we will not succeed. If we can find quick, affordable and alternative solutions to your problems, we will recommend them to you. We keep our word and do our very best to meet even the most challenging of deadlines. When you hire New Leaders, you are investing in our team, and we work very hard to earn your trust, respect, and satisfaction.

Q: What’s the difference between a web app and web site?

A web application is a software program which a user accesses over an internal network, or via the internet through a web browser. An example of one of the most widely used web applications is Google Docs, which facilitates most of the capabilities of Microsoft Word; it’s free and easy to use from any location. A web site, on the other hand, is a collection of documents that are accessed via the internet through a web browser, such as the one you’re using now to view New Leaders’ site. Web sites can also contain web applications, which allow visitors to complete online tasks such as: Search, View, Buy, Checkout, and Pay.

Q: I'd like to work for New Leaders -- are you hiring?

Our company is currently fully staffed. When vacancies do arise, they are posted to The Leader Board, where you will have the opportunity to apply for those specific positions that are available. However, we are always on the lookout for talented and experienced web specialists, especially those that exude passion and excellent communication skills. If you believe you meet these qualifications, please email your résumé, cover letter, and contact information to: jobs@newleaders.com.

Q: Can I hire you for just design or development?

Yes, you can purchase any of our menu of services à la carte. However, the separation of certain disciplines—such as design and CSS —is not recommended if you wish to optimize your end results. Please contact us to discuss your needs and we’ll determine how best to fulfill them.

Q: Can I accept payments and/or sell my products through my web site?

Ecommerce is a vital component of virtually every business web site. We will work with you to properly fulfill any requirement for accepting online payment for your products or services. We are happy to discuss the pros and cons of all types of online transactions and make recommendations based on your specific needs, whether they are for existing products/services or for custom-built solutions.

Q: Why should I use Ruby on Rails to build my web site?

We prefer to use Ruby on Rails because it allows us to spend more time focusing on what is unique about your application. The result: better products that work exactly as intended, with a faster turnaround time. If you’re used to using PHP, .Net, or Python, you might also prefer Ruby on Rails; but if not, we can work with your penchant. If it doesn’t matter to you, we highly recommend you allow us to approach it our way; we know you’ll be pleased with the results.

Q: I heard that New Leaders can build a web app in 3 days -- is that true?

If you are looking for a small team to complete an initial prototype within a tight timeframe, we can do that. Often in only a single weekend, we can build a very solid prototype that will handle tens of thousands of users. We enjoy the challenges associated with developing a product and bringing it to market quickly, as it forces us to focus on the fundamental core features. Of course, when time is at a premium, everything else becomes a luxury. Therefore, if you can give us at least seven days to deliver, you’ll receive more bells and whistles than if we only have three days for the job. Let us know your time considerations or constraints and we’ll do our very best to meet them.

Q: How long will it take and how much will it cost?

Every project is unique, but on average our projects take from 1-3 months, depending on the scope and feature set required. A normal scenario includes the product itself, and a marketing web site with an ecommerce or media component. We recommend that you budget $15,000 to $25,000 to develop the prototype, and anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000 to bring it to market. Obviously this is quite a wide range, but we can focus the projected budget much more efficiently once we identify and fully understand your needs.

Q: What are your payment policies?

New Leaders’ hourly fee is $175. When you request an estimate, we will develop it based on our experience with similar projects. The final price depends upon the scope and requirements of your project, but we are confident that our estimate will be within 25% of the final cost. We keep very accurate time logs which you may request at any time. We require a $4,200 deposit be secured before the commencement of any project with a budget larger than $8,400. This deposit acts as a bond for the first 24 hours of work; time invested beyond the initial 24 hours will be invoiced on the 1st and 15th of each month, and all payments must be received within 15 days to avoid any interruption in schedule. Excess deposit finances will be held as a credit for future additional work.
