Bookshelf.org
What is Bookshelf.org The constant need to print and issue books to students every semester is costly and inefficient to school districts. A Child’s World publishes thousands of books for children. Bookshelf.org allows students and teachers to share books which they are able to flip through using Scribd’s innovative PDF streaming technology. This is one of the first digital libraries of premium content that preserves the experience of turning the pages of a graphically rich storybooks.
What did New Leaders do? After discussing the project with Tim Peterson the founder, New Leaders began to research how we could create an easy and innovative way to share books online. From the naming of the brand, to the user experience, as well as integrating with iPaper’s innovative Scribd API, New Leaders was instrumental in every step. Teachers and students can peruse the library and add books to their virtual shelf, which can also be viewed by and shared with any user. This is one of the first commercial implementations of Scribd’s API which has helped to define a path to delivering books digitally, on demand.
What were the results? Bookshelf.org is currently being tested with a small audience to help us capture early feedback for the product’s initial release. Scribd has partnered with New Leaders and Bookshelf.org to continue to develop new business opportunities using iPaper technology. We will be announcing when the site launches to the public on our website later this year.
”Working with New Leaders was a pleasure. They’re thorough and professional. I especially appreciated their willingness to conceptualize and share ideas; they’re well-suited for transforming concept to reality with little supervision.”
— Tim Peterson, Founder of Bookshelf.org
