SBCC's Mobile Media Summit
Thanks to everyone involved with the summit, and for inviting us. We are just a “little” mobile compared to everyone else. Thanks for taking stock in a newcomer like us.
I learned about Measure V which will be an infrastructure improvement bond for structural issues, as well as the creation of a larger, combined multimedia lab, which is critical to bringing all media to a centralized location.
Frank Callahan of Apple was there to provide a complete overview of Apple’s product line, and commitment to emerging mobile innovations. He hinted at a new “something” beyond the Mac, iPhone, iPod, and AppleTV, that would also run Mac OS X. That is always exciting to hear. The other very interesting and successful program is iTunes U, allowing students to register online through iTunes and deliver schedules, book lists, content, maps, etc. to and from the iPhone or iPod Touch. One day, a college education could be a podcast subscription or an RSS feed. This could be the way we deliver higher education to anyone who wants it.
Finally, I ended up on a panel with a myriad of different types of mobile questions. The interactions were short and informational. I’ll get all the correction information about each person, their title, and their backgrounds in a longer post.
I would say it was a successful event, and I look forward to participating again in the future. Special thanks to Jeff Hirsch and Lorrie Thomas for recommending and inviting us to the summit.
