James Cox delivers news via Twitter
James Cox and I have spoken in the past about his hugely popular @cnnbrk Twitter account, which syndicates CNN’s Breaking News to Twitter followers everywhere. The Guardian even published a story on James’ commitment to keep the feed up to date, and not use it as a personal marketing channel. I love this story because it explains the true value of Twitter—something I get asked about a lot by non-believers. “What is Twitter for?” or, “Isn’t Twitter really worthless?” My standard rebuttal is — When an event happens, Twitter is always the first to report it.
I don’t know when the moment of opportunity for the service will take place. Maybe the upcoming elections, tides swelling, or aliens landing; but someday, Twitter’s true power will be revealed when thousands of people report the news long before traditional media picks up on the story. Thanks James!

Post Your Thoughts

Looks like Jason Kincaid of TechCrunch didn’t know that the @ccnbrk feed is provided by James. Kinda funny.
