Video: The One is us
Kevin Kelly is the executive editor of WIRED magazine, and he predicts the next 5,000 days of the web. Kevin provides some amazing statistics about the web, as if it were a single machine. He calls it “The One”. For example, in 2040 the web should exceed all mental processing power of humanity combined. He also predicts that the web will be a single unified system of information that we will eventually integrate into every aspect of our lives. We are already beginning to see this transpire with open data initiatives and cloud computing. These are very exciting times to be alive and to have witnessed the birth of “The One”.

To certain degree I have to agree with you. 100% transparency can be creepy. I do love Mr. Kelly’s statistics about the single machine and thinking about the next generation applications in that context. Yes, I have seen The Matrix and I know what this could lead to.
