New Leaders on Facebook

Facebook

Lately at New Leaders, we have been playing around with Facebook more and have been impressed with the power of the social graph. While we’ve yet to port any of our applications to their platform, we are certainly considering the idea. We hear how businesses need to leverage the social graph in order to create valuable connections between brands and their customers. Instead of making people visit your website alone, you can now bring part of your site to them. After looking around, we’ve only come across a few well-known brands that actually maintain their own page on Facebook. Pages and Groups seem to be more often managed by outside evangelists, rather than the companies. For example, Apple doesn’t have an official page they maintain on Facebook. Weird, huh? We think so.

Nonetheless, for us that ends today. Using a combination of Facebook Apps, we have created a new page for our team members, customers, and friends to share. At first we propagated it with classic New Leaders content, feeds, photos, etc. Our ultimate plan is to allow the page to become its own content property with some syndication from our website.

New Leaders Facebook Page

Being relatively new at crafting pages for Facebook, we spent a lot of time learning about the subtle differences between the applications and learning the tools’ limitations. At times it was frustrating and confusing to even get the basic things to look or display properly. Now that we’ve had some success with it, we are ready to delve into developing applications, as well as trying further customizations to deliver and share information. If you like using Facebook and you enjoy New Leaders products or services, click the link to become a fan or simply check in on us now and again.
