Being Positive
At New Leaders we’ve been working towards creating a better workplace by being as positive as possible. In the past we have come off as negative and this post marks the end of that era. Since our new found mind set has been in practice our business is doing better — more leads, sales, on-time schedules and quicker payments.
What changed?
Technically nothing except our mind set. It is like the world is rewarding us because we have the right attitude. Maybe because of this shift our reactions to being more positive is leading to better and bigger opportunities. Maybe we are more deserving than we once were. I am not going to claim to understand why it works. It just does.
It is easy to state that something is wrong. Point out the bad parts and generally bring everyone down around you. Colleagues, customers and partners alike. Negativity is like poison. You can really ruin it for everyone with your constant complaining and general poor outlook of everything. Try being positive about every aspect of your life. Like quitting smoking or dieting it will be hard to kick the habit. People revel in their agony. I assure you once you do become more positive your business and life will improve drastically.
This also goes for fear, envy and self defeating attitudes. Any image you hold in your mind will manifest itself in your actions and reactions from others. You’ll knock down every opportunity with a snide remark. You’ll treat the people around you like they can’t execute and you’ll have a short fuse when things go wrong. You are probably already holding yourself back from success because you think about being unsuccessful regularly or all the reasons you can’t succeed at something.
I am not trying to come off new-age like. Instead I am illustrating the destructive power of negativity. You need exterminate it from your life completely. If you don’t you’ll always have a barrage of unfortunate events and a self-defeating attitude that will hold you back from the things you truly desire.
Start today. You can change if you really want to. I know you can do it. Focus on all the great things you do have. Be thankful and gracious. See how you can helps others to succeed by not always putting yourself first. Attempt to be truly positive toward every opportunity that comes your way.
I assure you. Things will improve. Try it!
