John Gruber on Daringfireball

“Typing speed in Thincloud’s editing field is the fastest of the bunch.” (only nice comment)

John gave us a scathing review. I am sure we can learn from it. He has some valid points.

As for the name “Twitter for iPhone” we just wanted it to be simple and practical for people. Scamming people isn’t really our style. We see a Twitter client as an accessory for Twitter. No other clients are preserving the brand’s integrity. As users, that is what we wanted, and if you ask around you’ll find that is true across the board. Other clients have more features, but we are aiming to be the most “Twitter-like”. The other clients are welcome to have more bells a whistles. To each their own.

Secondly, we are going to reintroduce “Thincloud” as something else in the future; so we renamed our Twitter client to something simple that anyone would understand. “Twitter for iPhone” is the most practical. If that gets us some heat, then I can accept that. I assure you our reasons behind the switch are genuine and honest.

We look forward to getting John to reconsider “Twitter for iPhone” in the future, after we incorporate some of his feedback. We appreciate the feedback and we’ll do our best to continue to improve our applications.
