Ruby On Rails Developer

Job Description

We're looking for a passionate and seasoned Rails developer to join our core engineering team. This is not an entry level position. Your responsibilities will include communicating with clients about their software projects, story definition and architecture, Rails development and integration with the user interface, responding to support requests for live applications and logging your billable hours accurately. Minimum weekly commitment of 20 billable hours required with 30 being ideal. Pay rate is based on experience and is calculated hourly based on timelogs.

Desired Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will be fearless and have strong consulting experience. You should be able to carry a project on your own from start to finish with a positive attitude and hustle. You should be accustomed to balancing long term goals with the ability to get things done, often under tight deadlines. You should have open source contributions and work examples as well as familiarity with many or all of the following technologies: Rspec and/or Test::Unit, Rails Asset Pipeline, Engines, Git, MySQL and/or MongoDB, Sinatra, Javascript, jQuery, CoffeeScript, SASS, etc.

  • Strong programming skills (4+ years experience)
  • Experience working with Ruby (1+ year)
  • Web development experience (2+ years, with some Ruby on Rails)
  • Comfort with HTML, CSS, & JavaScript
  • Enthusiasm to work in a team where you can learn from and teach your peers
  • An understanding that coding is an art, and a strong desire to improve your craft
  • Bonus: Knowledge of front-end design and usability concepts
