For NonProfits

Your data should connect & flow between all of your systems.

We build the integrations, pipelines, and custom software that help nonprofits get their systems talking to each other. For organizations that have outgrown spreadsheets and Zapier, and whose donor database, ticketing, accounting, and email tools still don't agree on who anyone is.

Why this page exists

Most automation shops sell you a template. We get hired when the template runs out of room, when your donor database, ticketing system, and accounting software all need to agree on reality, and nothing off the shelf knows how to make that happen.

What we hear at every conference

The data problems that actually keep nonprofit leaders up at night.

If two or more of these sound familiar, we should talk. Most organizations we work with started with one and discovered the others underneath.

01

Your tools don't talk to each other.

Bloomerang, QuickBooks, your ticketing platform, your email tool, your event registration form — each is fine on its own. Together they're a part-time job for somebody on your team, and the reconciliation reports never quite balance.

02

You can't see donor behavior next to program impact.

The board wants a single picture: who gave, who came, who volunteered, who renewed. Right now that picture lives in four exports and a heroic spreadsheet that one person knows how to update.

03

You've outgrown Zapier and the workflow products.

Simple automations got you started. The real problems are conditional, multi-step, and involve data shape changes between systems. The off-the-shelf tools can't handle the logic, and they break in ways that are hard to debug.

04

Years of data lives in systems you no longer trust.

Legacy databases, abandoned CRMs, donor records imported three migrations ago. Cleanup feels overwhelming because nobody is sure what to keep, what to merge, and what to throw away. So it sits there.

05

The person who set everything up is gone.

Or about to be. Institutional knowledge lives in one head, your processes aren't documented, and your next hire is going to spend their first six months reconstructing what their predecessor knew by feel.

06

You need to make a decision and don't know who to trust.

Do you migrate CRMs? Build a custom portal? Replace the accounting system? Vendors are happy to tell you yes. You want someone who has built this kind of thing before and isn't selling you the platform.

HOW WE HELP

Three engagements, all shaped to fit your organization.

We don't sell packages. Each of these starts with a conversation about what you actually need, and ends with software your team can run after we're gone.

Custom Integrations & Data Pipelines

This is the bulk of what we do for nonprofits. Bloomerang to QuickBooks. Ticketing platforms to donor records. Event registrations into the CRM with the right campaign codes. Payment processors reconciled across systems that disagree about what a transaction is.

We build pipelines that handle real-world data — the missing fields, the typos, the donor who appears three times — and we document them so your team understands what's running and why.

Strategic Technology Advisory

You don't need another vendor in the room. You need someone independent who has built this kind of thing, knows where the hard parts actually are, and can tell you the honest answer about whether to migrate, rebuild, integrate, or leave it alone.

We work as a fractional technology advisor for organizations going through transitions — CRM migrations, system consolidations, accessibility compliance, leadership changes, or just figuring out what the next three years should look like.

Custom Software When Off-the-Shelf Solutions Fall Short

Sometimes the right answer is a product you can buy. Sometimes it isn't. When your work involves a constituent portal, a member experience, a program management tool, or a public-facing application that doesn't fit any existing category, we build it.

We've shipped 500+ applications in 20 years, including national-scale platforms used by millions. We bring the same senior engineering to a regional nonprofit that we bring to a venture-backed startup — just at a pace and scope that fits the organization.

A few examples

We've spent decades volunteering & working inside the nonprofit world

Nearly every member of our team has served as a volunteer or paid director, and/or officer of a nonprofit organization – all unpaid, on personal time. That's where we learned how nonprofit operations actually work. The integrations and systems we now sell to our nonprofit clients were proven in-house first, which is why the consulting engagement that follows is sharper, faster, and more honest than what you'd get from a firm that's only read about your sector.

Where the techniques were developed

Tahoe Symphony (TOCCATA®)

The donor data techniques we now offer to nonprofit clients were developed inside Tahoe Symphony first, as volunteer board work. TicketTailor sales flow into QuickBooks Online with proper revenue categorization. Donor records sync to Bloomerang with campaign attribution intact. Reconciliation of thousands of ticket sales and interactions that used to take a weeks each month now take just a few minutes.

GRAPHIC DESIGN AND LIGHTWEIGHT DATA

Trails & Vistas

Sometimes a great website and simple systems are all that we need to support a successful nonprofit system.  For Trails and Vistas' website and ticketing process, we picked simple off the shelf tools and maximized their capabilities through strong design skills, powerful photography, and thorough configuration of their existing tools.

National YMCA Platform

YMCA 360

A national digital platform used by millions of YMCA members across the country. We designed and built the application, run the AWS infrastructure, and have supported it for years as it scaled.

The same engineering team that handles platforms at this scale also handles a 200-member symphony and everything in-between.

FUNDRAISING FOR 30,000+ NONPROFITS

Anedot Fundraising Platform

The New Leaders team worked closely with Anedot founder Paul Dietzel to create and launch a fundraising platform that now serves over 30,000 nonprofit organizations.  Payment systems, donor information, stewardship tools and other systems were created.

Why us, plainly

Senior engineers, nonprofit experience.

We're a small, deliberate firm. The person you meet at the conference is the person who will be on your project. There is no offshore team you'll be handed off to.
  • We keep things simple.

Our consultants have been automating business systems for decades. We are fast, efficient, and we love what we do. The work moves faster because the people doing it have seen it before.

  • We know the work.

Board reports, donor calls, audit prep, the 9pm email from a vendor — our team has done this work for years. We bring that operational understanding into every paid engagement.

  • We document the build.

Every engagement leaves your team with diagrams, runbooks, and onboarding material. When someone new joins, they can read the system instead of guessing at it.
